I was wondering if anyone had been keeping records of commentators over the past few seasons?

I have pretty much a full list of all commentators for every channel in the 08/09 season but don't have last season or any before that. If anyone has a list then get in touch and we will get them up on the main site so we have a permanent record online.

I've got a record of the Football League play-off commentators for the last 2 seasons as well as the Football First/International feed commentaries (bar one match) from the 2008-09 Premier League season.

I don't know if you can do this but I'd prefer these records to have its own section of the board....say "Football Broadcasting History".

If you hover over the 'Vital Broadcasting Menu' just below the banner I've already created the seperate space for historical data, just need to input it all!

I reckon if we go back over the archives of the thread on DS, we'd get pretty much everything from the last 5 years or so.

I'll start you off: John Motson and Mark Lawrenson covered the finals at Germany '06 and Austria/Switzerland '08, for the BBC.

Homesdale's site has a long list of commentators.

Just an update on this,

Myself and D.M.N have done the World Cup commentators which is already up now.

shaunofthespurs has sent me all the commentators details from the Confederations Cup 09, Euro 2008 and then the BBC commentators for WC 06 and Euro 2004.

I also have the entire 08/09 domestic season completed with SSReporters having the international feed done.

So if anyone has any other records then let me know.

If not then maybe we could start going back through the old thread and noting the commentators down, perhaps all do one month each?

After some tedious editing I've added the 2006 FIFA World Cup commentators for ESPN/ABC (AKA the tournament that caused a revamp of their soccer coverage).

Also completed the 2008 Football League Playoff Commentators for Sky Sports.

I have details of the Sky Sports personnel for nearly all live games between 2003/04 and 2007/08. Unfortunately not digitally though so it may take a little time to provide the required information!

Cheers for that Homesdale, I'll have a good look later. I'm planning on working through the international tournaments first so will be doing WC 2006 next, on your list are all the BBC/ITV commentators you have listed the ones who covered it live or are some recordings of the late night full game repeats they showed at around 1am?

Also, Mark, I've sent you a PM about your list.

The site records have been updated to include the whole WC 2006, however, there are a few gaps in terms of ITV co-commentators for their highlights packages. I checked the old place and couldn't find any more info than I've put up there.

By tomorrow morning I should have the ESPN/ABC commentators complete.

Considering that 4 of the 5 match commentators used work prominently for Sky and ESPN I'll put up an article as well.
