COMPETITION 2011/12.
19 July 2011 13:13 Post ID: #14585

i am starting this years competition hopefully with everyones blessings.

dont know if casinoman wants to continue this, but untill he does or he might now leave it to me, i will start this years comp off.

Yep another season is almost upon us and that off course means another season of our commentators competition!!

The last season's can only be described as fantastic with so many follower's and i can only hope people will still stick with me like they did last season when i took over, it was fun.

On numerous occasions last season we got well over the 40 mark and everyweek we saw number's of well over 20 who were loyal every week.

Great stuff and i'm sure you are all looking foward to getting going for this season...many of our regular's took part last season will be back
this year as well as some new recurites so the like's of Bwfcol, Mark, MLT11, Mr Williams, Hibs Kid, Jonboy35, The Naitch, SSreporters,
The Wanderer, Cottonheat and many many more will all be back this season.

HOPEFULLY YOU WILL ALL BE BACK TO SUPPORT ME.

The big question is , can READINGFANTIC come out as champion again? or will we have a new name at the end of the season?

the rules will stay the same as last season , so please read the rules below to make sure you all know them.

BUT , AS I AM DOING THE COMP AGAIN, I WANT TO ADD SOMETHING NEW TO THE COMP JUST TO SPICE IT UP A BIT.

I WANT TO ADD LEAGUES, IN OTHER WORDS AFTER 10 WEEKS OF THE COMP, I WILL SPLIT EVERYONE UP INTO 2 OR 3 LEAGUES AND HAVE RELEGATION AND PROMOTION.

EVERY WEEK AFTER THE WEEKLY COMPS FINISH AND SCORES ARE POSTED I WILL ALL SO POST LEAGUE TABLES AS WELL.

AFTER 10 WEEKS THE 12 HIGHEST SCORES WILL FORM COMMS PREMIER LEAGUE, THE NEXT 12 WILL BE IN COMMS LEAGUE 1 AND THE REST IN COMMS LEAGUE 3 IF THERE IS ENOUGH TO DO THAT.

3 PEOPLE AT THE END OF THE SEASON WILL GET RELEGATED FROM COMMS PREMIER LEAGUE,
AND 3 PEOPLE WILL GET PROMETED FROM COMMS LEAGUE 1 TO COMMS PREMIER LEAGUE,
AND 4 WILL GET RELEGATED FROM COMMS LEAGUE 1 TO COMMS LEAGUE 2
AND 4 FROM COMMS LEAGUE 3 WILL GET PROMTED TO COMMS LEAGUE 2.

all i ask is we give it a go, it will add futher fun to the comp.

Once again 3 points for the correct combination with just one point for getting either the main or co-commentator correct.

In the event of a tie the person who got the main commentator correct the most will be declared the winner.
If still a tie then a sudden death game may come into play for those who are tied and only those.

The sudden death game will be announced during the list of games for that week....however some weeks will have no sudden
death games.
If still no clear result then joint winner's or even co-winner's will be decared for that week.

Once again to have a contest we must have a minimum of 5 games although some weeks will have 6, 7, 8 , 9 or even 10 games.
Carling Cup, Champion's League, Championship and football first games aswell as Prem Games will all be included and although most week's it will be confined
to Sky, ESPN may well also be included this season aswell as BBC.

Please remember guys that i have the final decision (or who may be running it in my absence)

Also remember that noone must announce their selections until i have published them.

Due to the Martin Tyler coloum most games will be announced about 10 days before the weekend in question.
Pleas take note of the closing date of entries and also take note of when games may be announced as this may vary from week to week.

Also a very very big PLEASE to anyone who has inside information to keep it to themselfs and do not give away as to where any commentators
may be during a weekend.....this could well abandon the weekend in question aswell as spoiling the competition for everyone.

This season other points to be obtained.
20 points extra for anyone who achieves the magical 100%
15 points for anyone to win the competiton outright in sucessive weeks(not if joint winner)
5 points extra will be awarded to anyone to win it in sucessive weeks as a joint or co-winner.
Will take 25 points of anyone who finishes outright bottom in sucessive weeks
Will take 10 points of anyone who finishes bottom in sucessive weeks even if joint or co-bottom.
Random bounus points may be awarded for selected games during the season.
Extra 10 points for anyone who wins the competition more than 3 times this season, only outright and points awarded at the end of the season.

BUT ,

AS I AM DOING THE COMP SO I AM GOING TO ADD A NEW RULE.
ANYONE WHO IS LATE PUTTING THERE ENTRYS ON AFTER 5PM WILL GET GET A 5 POINTS DEDUCTION LATE PENLETY INSERTED.

This competition just seems to generate more and more interst as years go by and it's really great fun in running the competion.
Thanks to everyone for all your support and lets hope this season will be as enjoyable as those gone by.

Good luck of course to everyone.

The all important start date will be Friday 5th August and games will be announced on mon 28th July with the closing date being the 4th August
so not long now!!

There we go guys so all thats left now is to wish everyone the very best of luck for the 2011/12 season.

Jonboy thanks for running this even though casinoman mentioned he will probably be back for next season.

I think it would be best to put the league table thing to a vote as I'm not sure everyone would be on board with it.

Definitely like the points deductions idea, though.

I say give the league set up a go, adds bit more fun and acts as an incentive for people to enter every week. If doesn't work this season then go back to normal next year. Thought it worked well adding FF games last season so why not spice it up a bit. Just my humble opinion of course. Whatever you decide is fine by me.

I like the idea of the Premier league, divisons 1 and 2 etc... However I think it would be worth doing promotions/relegations after every 10 games... As say by bad luck you have a poor start your in League 2... and could win or be top most leagues and overall could nearly win overall, but stuck in league 2.

Same here, current format is simple and easy to understand. People might not compete if they are relegated.

Could we just do a simple 3 points for getting both, 1 point for getting one and 5 points for getting 100%.

Big bonus points disorts it a bit.

Hull v Blackpool - Bill Leslie and Don Goodman
AFC Wimbledon v Bristol Rovers - Gary Weaver and Scott Minto
Southampton v Leeds - Daniel Mann and Garry Birtles
Aberdeen v Celtic - Ian Crocker and Andy Walker
Man City v Man Ure - Martin Tyler and Alan Smith
Leeds v Bradford - Danel Mann and Garry Birtles

I vote no. It's not a bad idea, but the simplicity of the competition is one of it's strengths

I vote NO, and if points deductions are imposed would it be possible to have PMs sent when new fixtures are put up? Because sometimes I forget to come into the separate thread

I'm new to the game so not sure if my vote counts but I'll say no to the league system, the simplicity of the existing game is good. Also not sure about the bonus points etc, could have a separate "green jersey" competition with points based on people finishing top/bottom etc. each week.
