On topic of radio commentators does anyone know the line up for TalkSport in the Euro's?
Im i right in saying Andy Gray will be part of it? Has Richard Keys got any part?

Yep

Commentators: Sam Matterface, Nigel Pearson, John Roder and Ian Danter
Co-commentators: Stan Collymore, Andy Gray and Alvin Martin
Reporters: Ian Abrahams, John Anderson and David Brady

Keys will be there too as the Keys and Gray show, plus Drivetime are being done from Poland/Ukraine. I think Mark Saggers will be anchoring the live coverage however

Thanks Matey!
Now that would be interesting to see out of Collymore and Gray who would get the final role?

Reckon it will be Gray unless somehow England got to the final. Only basing that though on Gray getting the Champions League final. Reckon Collymore would be involved somehow though

I hope its not John Helm

Last time I heard Helm was 2010 I think (he did the Europa League final, Champions League final, World Cup and UEFA Supercup). I'm hoping he is retired now.

It was Helm, Dave Woods, Tony Jones and Steve Banyard in 2008. The latter 3 of those and Martin Fisher wouldn't be too bad. I'd love to see Kevin Keatings, who did a few World Cup 2010 games though.

I just wish they had co-comms. 90 minutes of one voice can get so dull.

Could be a three man final? Matterface, Collymore and Gray?

A few more commentators for ITV confirmed:

Tues 12th - Poland V Russia - Peter Drury & Jim Beglin
Wed 13th - Portugal V Denmark - Clive Tyldesley & Andy Townsend
Thurs 14th - Spain V Rep. of Ireland - Peter Drury & Jim Beglin

No commentators yet confirmed for Greece V Czech Republic on the Tuesday or the Ukraine V France game on the Friday evening. Would imagine it will be Jon Champion & Craig Burley at the 1st. Will be interesting to see about the latter - England play Sweden on the Friday so I'm guessing they'll want a 'senior' commentator on that. It looks like Matt Smith will be presenting the Greece V Czech Republic game on the Tuesday so it looks like hell at least do some live match presenting - Adrian Chiles is doing both of the opening Sunday ones though (Italy V Spain and Ireland V Croatia), presumably because of the magnitude of both games.

Update from John Roeder cited on DS in which he states he will be based in Poland for the tournament and will have 9 games to do all alongisde Andy Gray. By my reckoning this could be 6 group stage games, 2 Quarter-finals and then a semi-final (unless they're going to go over to the Ukraine during the group stages to cover the odd match there.) This might suggest that Roeder & Gray would be the 2nd choice commentary line-up with Matterface and Collymore being 1st choice. I'd presume the country they were commentating in could change come the knockout stages depending on where the most attractive games end up being played.

Some various information from press centres that I've bene able to find - don't think these have been posted yet?

Fri 8th June:

Poland V Greece BBC - Steve Wilson & Mark Bright

Russia V Czech Republic - Peter Drury & Jim Beglin

Sun 10th June:
Spain V Italy - ITV - Jon Champion & Craig Burley
Rep. of Ireland V Croatia - Peter Drury & Jim Beglin

Mon 11th June:
England V France - Clive Tyldesley & Andy Townsend

For ITV it looks pretty clear that Tyldesley will be doing the main games in Ukraine, with Drury doing the same in Poland - I'd guess Champion & Burley will then go between the two as appropriate. Ironically the way circumstances have worked out mean Champion & Burley will get one of the best games of the group stage.

Hard to tell for the BBC as there's only been 1 game I've been able to find so far! But it seems a fair bet that Mowbray & Lawrenson will be in Ukraine for the England games and McCarthy will be in Poland for the Ireland ones. So possibly it will be Wilson & maybe Pearce with Bright & McCarthy in Poland and then Mowbray & Brotherton with Lawrenson & Keown in Ukraine.

Does anyone know what happened regarding the commentators at Euro 2000 and the 2002 World Cup (with the matches across two different countries)? Did they generally designate a few commentators to each country or was there regular travelling between the two?

At the 2002 World Cup, John Motson covered the opening match in Korea for highlights then flew to Japan and remained there for the rest of the tournament along with Tony Gubba. Steve Wilson and Rob MacLean commentated from Korea, with Barry Davies alternating between both countries (in his autobiography he says that he found it amusing that, as the oldest member of team, he was asked to cross the ocean the most often)

"Torres to take the throw"

You sure about that, Darkie? Because you don't take throw-ins in the middle of the pitch with your foot!

Twellman is less talkative than Harkes and more insightful. Definitely a better partnership.

On topic of radio commentators does anyone know the line up for TalkSport in the Euro's?
Im i right in saying Andy Gray will be part of it? Has Richard Keys got any part?

I know a few people have gotten back to you on this since you posted that message but to point you in a useful direction, I'd recommend you check out the Euro 2012 Coverage thread in the Radio section of the Digital Spy forum, where 4-4-2 has posted a list of talkSPORT's provisional schedule for their first week or so of coverage from Poland and Ukraine.

From looking at the information available so far, Sam Matterface and Stan Collymore will be talkSPORT's main commentary team in Ukraine with pairings of John Roder and Andy Gray plus Nigel Pearson and Alvin Martin based in Poland. Ian Danter will also do five commentary games - four during the first five days of the tournament - with him probably due to be paired with the likes of Ray Parlour and Matt Holland going by trailers on the station. Dants will also be commentating on games for UEFA.com too.

Presenting-wise Mark Saggers, Adrian Durham and Richard Keys will all anchor live games (and will be on-site, although not necessarily hosting from every ground). Keys is currently down to anchor their coverage of the opening game and the first Republic of Ireland match, with Roder and Gray commentating on both fixtures.

Saggers is due to host coverage of the first England game with Sam and Stan on commentary duty, but from then on I expect him to host their coverage of games in the 7.45pm timeslot, with usual Drive Time host Durham presenting coverage of the 5pm games during the first two rounds of group fixtures. Matchday Live presenter Durham is also down to host their coverage of the three non-Ireland games during the first weekend.

Away from the live coverage, the Keys & Gray show will be broadcast from Poland while Adrian Durham and Darren Gough are going "on a road trip" with their Drive Time show. I believe they'll be based in Ukraine for much of the tournament, although next week the show is due to be coming from Berlin. talkSPORT have studios in Warsaw and Kiev and will probably be doing the largest amount of on-site presentation of any of UK broadcaster.

It'll be interesting to see how the split of games between the commentators works. If Roder has 9 games I'd expect Matterface to have a similar number - maybe 10 including the final. Like others I expect both Collymore and Gray to be involved in their coverage of the final, with either one of them working as a co-host/pundit or even a three person commentary team. Stan should be doing Call Collymore after the game too. Perhaps the more interesting call will be to see whether Keys or Saggers anchors their live coverage of the final.
