I won't miss C5's coverage, while Rosenthal is excellent, I'm not a huge fan of Collymore on TV.
Graham Taylor is great on 5Live but poor on TV and Dave Woods shouldn't be allowed near football commentary on national terrestrial TV.

Ajax v Man Utd - Channel 5
Commentary from Dave Woods and Graham Taylor. Dave Beckett reporting
I only caught a gimpse of it, but it sounded like TLN in Canada used the Five feed. That would be a first for them, usually they have the international feed. There were certainly 2 commentators; I have it recorded so I'll have to check and see if it was Woods and Taylor.
You think the British channels are bad, TLN had the 16:9 squeezed into 4:3. The players looked some thin. Luckily I have an HDTV, so I can stretch it, but I can't imagine how bad it looked for those with an old 4:3 TV.

A change of presenter
(and channel
) for the second game as Chiles replaced Smith on ITV. Some of the things they said seemed to suggest Drury and Beglin were on-site.
ITV didn't name check their commentators for Ajax Vs Man Utd or Stoke Vs Valencia highlights, but on the latter it was Jon Champion.

Joe Speight did Ajax v Man Utd, a commentary which also went out on ESPN. It was in fact Derek Rae at Stoke, Darrell Currie was the reporter
It was Stubbs, Keown and McManaman in the ESPN studio tonight

Sorry I meant Rae... no idea why I wrote Champion when the voice I heard was Rae's, and I know it was Rae's. It's been a long day :/

No need for ITV to use their HD equipment on lesser clubs.

This was in fact the case. You guys can complain about Woods and Taylor all you want, but they're better than the international feed. It was a nice change to get the British commentary.

Most obviously because Drury interviewed Mancini after it. On Channel Five's highlights, which were topped and tailed by Jim Rosenthal but linked out of vision by Adam Darke, they had Tony Jones bellowing over Man City and John Roder at Stoke.
