Does anyone have any recommendations/favourites?

I've just started The Football Men by Simon Kuper and then I've got Graham Hunter's Making Of Barcelona to read. I'd be interested to know what other sports books are popular around here, either general writing or any good autobiographies that you've read.

How about magazines? As a fan of several sports, I'd really like an all round magazine but can never find one, anyone know if one exists in the UK? To buy a specialist magazine for each sport each month would cost too much so at the moment World Soccer is my usual choice and sometimes The Cricketer.

I've only recently started looking at podcasts and there's a load of football ones so again I'd be appreciate people's thoughts on what's good.

I read FourFourTwo magazine whenever I'm at the bookstore.

"Bloody Confused" by Chuck Culpepper, an American sportswriter trying to understand the Premier League (2006-07 at the time) is a fun read, particularly as he went to many Portsmouth matches and was fascinated by the English culture.

The Fix by Declan Hill is a great book. Amazing story on matchfixing in football. He got in with the bookmakers, the fixers and the mafias running the whole thing. Best of all, he's Canadian. The book is a few years old. I've just picked it is and started reading it. It's fantastic.

Same would go for Moneyball if you like Baseball. I actually listened to a fantastic 5 Live show on how it could be applied to football and other sports a few months back as well. They had a few actors from the movie on and others like that.

Again, Canadian perspective, but I love The Footy Show vodcast (it is on Youtube) for podcasts. Maybe not up to the standards of British TV for the sport, but the best this side of the Atlantic for me.

Good call, really enjoyed the Moneyball book and movie. Speaking of movies then, any better sports movies than Friday Night Lights and The Mighty Ducks?

Have you watched The Damned United yet? I checked it out from the library and will view it later this weekend but I've heard it's a good movie.

Not a magazine/podcast but watched Being Liverpool last night on Channel 5, was a good watch and I suspect it will get more interesting over the next 5 weeks.
