2012 London Olympics Commentators Thread

You can post football in here and in the other thread, too.

London 2012 is almost here, but NBC will probably not broadcast any of it to the West Coast until 2013.

Does anyone have a link to BBC's commentary team for all Olympic events? Thanks.

Post everything Olympics related here!

Overview of the BBC coverage here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18070768

As well as what's listed, I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC take world feed or other English-language commentary for some smaller events

Bob Costas and Mary Carillo in London for the ceremonies. Looks like that's all they're bringing.

If this ceremonies is as corny as I fear it will make reading DS and UK newspapers a very enjoyable time.

Anybody know where I can find a feed of the Olympic Broadcasting Service opening ceremony output? I've found umpteen feeds from Eurosport and Poland/Russia but I can't find OBS (commentator: Barry Davies!).

Opening Ceremony - BBC

Gary Lineker and Sue Barker presented from the Olympic Stadium, joined by Michael Johnson, John McEnroe, Sie Steve Redgrave and Denise Lewis.

Jake Humphrey and Mishal Husain presented the countdown show from the main Olympic Park studio, joined by various guests to preview events (Sharron Davies and Ian Thorpe for swimming, Chris Boardman and Tanni-Grey Thompson for cycling, Amir Khan and Lennox Lewis for boxing, and presumably some others)

Commentary from Huw Edwards, Hazel Irvine and Trevor Nelson. (thought Nelson was awful)

Reporters were Matthew Pinsent and Clare Balding in the Olympic Park/Stadium, Rob Walker in Weymouth and Phil Jones at the athletes' holding camp in Portugal

2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony - CTV (in Canada)
Brian Williams and Lisa LaFlamme

Interesting. Second straight Olympics that a torchbearer has been part of an Opening Ceremony broadcast. Catriona Le May Doan was part of CTV's broadcast in 2010. Had to leave partway through and the rest of the commentators had to keep quiet about it.

The BBC's first day of presenting on BBC1

11:30 - 13:45: Hazel Irvine presented
13:45 - 16:00: Jake Humphrey presented
16:00 - 19:00: Sue Barker presenting.

Gary Linekar and Gabby Logan to come later on. One thing the BBC certainly have is a string of strong presenters. I like how they are handing over between presenters too, with some chat about the recent events/games before handing over.

Another note on presenters, Ian Payne, formally of Sky and now Football League show, is presenting for 5 live.

I hope they were good. I mentally checked out after Meredith Vieira admitted she didn't know who Tim Berners-Lee was and said Rowan Atkinson had a "nice pair of legs".

If it's women's football, it was probably Jo Potter.
