I also think we have no chance of going unbeaten, especially once the CL kicks in and he starts messing about with the team picking the likes of Gibson. When we do lose, I think it'll be to someone unexpected, like Wigan away or at home to Fulham or something. The nightmare is the record going at Anfield or against city. I have no idea how we're still unbeaten so far, even one of our own fanzines has given us the nickname 'The Crap Invincibles' The first half against Blackpool was a disgrace, but clearly Fergie's hairdryer still works

Elsewhere, I see Blackpool have been fined for their 'weakened' team. It was always going to happen after Wolves were fined last season, but it's still an absolute joke of a decison, made by people who aren't fit to run the game.

Gibson is shocking to watch. He offers the odd 40 yard shot but even that takes at least 10 tries.

He's got no creativity whatsoever and I think between Evans and Gibson in their respective positions I'd rather see Evans play. Gibson stifles his own team's attack way too often.

Carroll going for 35mil pounds is incredibly stupid.

He's not world class and they're paying him as if he's going to be a legend!

I've just kicked a screwed up envelope into the bin, got a call of John W Henry offering me £200 million

Meanwhile, Alex Ferguson has issued a hands off warning. Howard Webb is not for sale

Much as I think Carroll is a very good player, with huge potential, I think I'd cry if United had just spent £35million on him. That's more than David Villa, Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov, Dzeko, Bent & Torres (when Liverpool signed him) cost.

Apparently Richard Keys phoned up Kenny Dalglish last night regarding the Andy Carroll buy. "You know that British transfer record, did you smash it?"

Any striker we signed on deadline day was always going to come at a premium. Newcastle knew that a) we had £50m to spend and b) we were racing against time. We've pretty much broken even over the course of the transfer window, shipping out Torres and Babel and bringing in Carroll and Suarez. I don't think we've done too badly at all.

As long as Liverpool playing like a pro football team again I wouldn't mind them grabbing at least 1 point at Stamford Bridge just so the talk of Chelsea possibly still being in the title race can end.

I take your point about the inflated fee, we've been putting up with the 'United Tax' on players for years, still feels like a hell of a lot of money for someone of Carroll's limited experience though. I do agree that you'll probably end up doing ok out of it in the long run. Torres has looked like he'd rather be anywhere but Anfield for a good year or so, so getting £50m for him looks good in theory, especially considering his injury record, and if they click, Carroll and Suarez could prove to be a very good partnership.

The reaction from certain pundits over the past few days would lead you to think Chelsea were odds on to win the title now, not 10 points behind United. They still have to play us twice, but realistically they'd need to beat us twice to overtake us. Liverpool taking points off them would be most welcome, just to burst the bubble a bit. It's not often I have much sympathy for Liverpool, but I thought Torres' comments about joining a bigger club were out of order, and showed a lack of respect.

Vidic and Rooney were the worst of the worst today for us.

Of course the worst team in the Prem (who nearly stole a point at OT last time) with the mumbling McCarthy beats us.

Told you so There's only so many times you can get away with pisspoor away performances without coming unstuck.

Still, at least that can be put to bed now, and we can get on with trying to win the league. Annoying though, as I was nearly collapsing with laughter at around 4:50pm, yet they've gained a point on us.

3 is even better.

Even with our loss yesterday, let's stop the notion Chelsea are in the title race.

Arsenal.

I love Wenger but he's out of his mind if he thinks his side aren't filled with holes....preferably in the areas that lead to goals being conceded.

I can't remember the last time I nearly wet myself laughing like that, oh wait, it was a couple of weeks ago when Arsenal blew a 4 goal lead at Newcastle
That weekend went rather well for us. A 4-0 win away from home, the Carling Cup final, Liverpool losing, city dropping points. Plus the news today that Rooney has escaped a ban.

Re: Rooney - Fergie's comments about the media may have seemed over the top, but his point was proven by the analysis of the incident on MOTD, and then by the numpties on Sunday Supplement. He defends his players in public, but there's no doubt he will have slaughtered Rooney privately for that, it was bloody stupid and he was very lucky to get away with it. I was fully expecting him to be missing Chelsea, Liverpool and the Cup game against Arsenal (probably), especially considering the FA's previous reactions to misdemeanours by United players.

****.

Pick an obscenity with four-letters and that's how I feel right now. I haven't even watched the game but saw "Atkinson" and "penalty" in the recap.

Liverpool is a must or I have doubts about our title chances just on away performance.

I really fancy Arsenal for some reason, although I'll probably change my mind if you beat Liverpool on Sunday

I just found it funny how Sky tried to make out that Chelsea were back in it. Not a ****ing chance

Wonder if next week someone like Diaby will grab Berbatov's arm and snap it in two and earn just a yellow. Carragher's challenge absolutely should've been a red.

Means nothing. We were awful and Carrick/Brown should donate their checks to charity or to Javier Hernandez.
