This Al-Jazeera led BeIn Sports has already poached some of what ESPN has. All USA away qualifiers leading to the 2014 WC will be shown on BeIn and not predominantly ESPN.

Granted, USA sells their WC away games differently so it's not a big loss but it's a start for BeIn. They've also got La Liga and Serie A.

It is the home team that sells the World Cup qualifying matches to other nations. Usually in CONCACAF, the smaller nation sell the TV rights for US away matches for a high price that none of the big networks want to pay. And it usually ends up on PPV.

Apologies if mentioned but Sky's TV Guide stating Hearts v Liverpool tonight on ITV4 is being presented by one Paul Dempsey of Sky and Setanta Ireland fame, perhaps a new gig on ITV for him especially with Bundesliga highlights coming to the channel as well?

Well, it was indeed Dempsey for some reason - although we've had the likes of Angus Scott and Kelly Cates presenting around this time in seasons past - but presumably that's simply a one-off when everyone's away because I can't imagine the Bundesliga highlights being a very big budget production and will almost certainly be a presenter-free international package.

According to the BBC website, Laurence Herdman will be commentating on the Norwich V QPR game tomorrow for MOTD. I presume this is his MOTD debut? I believe he commentated on the Southampton V Portsmouth derby towards the end of last season for the FLS? I was very impressed that day so hopefully he'll have a good commentary. It seems things are a bit unusual at the moment with MOTD's commentators, presumably following a busy summer. Dan O'Hagan is also getting 2 PL outings in a row as he's doing the Swansea V West Ham game.

Herdman's done a Football League commentaries. Sounded OK when I heard him, suppose there's always a few changes at the start of each season

ITV have confirmed Real Madrid v Man City for Tuesday 18 September and I'd guess their other fixtures will be:

Tue 2 Oct - Cluj v Man Utd
Tue 23 Oct - Man Utd v Braga
Tue 6 Nov - Man City v Ajax
Tue 20 Nov - Galatasaray v Man Utd
Tue 4 Dec - Borussia Dortmund v Man City

Unless they can hold back the pick for the final matchday to see how the groups pan out.

Do we know if STV have their opt-out back for this contract? If not, Sky will undoubtedly be the only place to see Celtic.

Surely they'd pick Juventus v. Chelsea over Galatasary v. Man United, no? I get that they love Man United, but those are two huge European teams.

Same could be said for Olympiacos v. Arsenal on December 4, depending on the situation in each group.

Just wondering, what kind of a rating could a Celtic v. Barcelona game draw on Sky compared to the English teams?

I'm sure ITV could make a decision on what they want to show on MD6 only once they know what permutations each team has.

I think a Celtic v Barcelona will always get less than either of the English teams, although the situations of each match (i.e. what's a dead rubber and what isn't) and what game is on which channel. That's a wild guess though

Sky make Chelsea v Juventus the main match on SS2 on MD1; Man Utd v Galatasaray on SS4.

BT have confirmed that Jake Humphrey will host their Premier League coverage next season.

While Jake can sometimes be a bit annoying, I still think its a very good signing. A high profile name who will promote the product well. I do hope BT will bring a fresh approach to football coverage - ESPN's effort falls flat for me.

Incidentally this should be a good person to follow in the coming months, the Head of Scheduling for the BT Sports Channel (which I guess is going to be the channels name?),

Barring any fixture complications I assume Chelsea v Man Utd is a dead cert for TV in the fourth round of the League Cup. If I were Sky, I'd probably pick Norwich v Spurs as the second game, but really only Wigan v Bradford is a weak game in that draw

I agree about the dead cert, but I think with a great home record like Swindon v Aston Villa could be the second game??

I really hope Swindon vs Villa is the 2nd tie, I'll be disappointed if it isn't.

I don't want to see another all PL tie, they are boring

I'd have gone with Swindon-Villa too, however:

Tues 30th Oct: Reading v Arsenal
Weds 31st Oct: Chelsea v Man Utd

Apparently Belgium v Scotland is on ESPN on 16th October.

Yet the BBC announced on 21 May they would show the four away matches not against Wales.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/18141696

Bit strange...not that it bothers me that much, since I have ESPN. Just means I'll need to play host to a couple of family members on the Tuesday as well as the preceding Friday!
