Just because I use this forum it doesn't mean I'll abandon the DS thread completely and there's absolutely no reason why the two can't co-exist.

It's like DS has its own football board, but if you want in-depth football discussion you seek out a dedicated forum. I see this place as being the same.

2.) I'm not a fan of this forum layout and I've long been a vBulletin fan. This can be customized but the people in charge at Vital would be paying a fortune to switch to vBulletin as well as forcing everyone to re-register, which would be tedious and annoying. We'll have to work with what we've got. The tech people can add things to make this site easier to use.

why didn't you buy your own domain space rather than linking up with vital football? I know that costs money but you say that you guys had been talking about it for a while, for a small community like this you wouldn't need to chip that much in to get something workable and decent. Stick a few google ads on it, get people clicking and you have a self funding model going. Obviously if no one was prepared to stump up some initial cash then fair enough but we aren't talking that much.

As a lurker more than a poster I came over here and well I did prefer it before the breakaway you get dodgy posters everywhere and you said everyone has a clean slate so this breakaway seems like people got power hungary and shunned the place they used to call home. The competitons being seperate from the other threads is a smart idea but one that could have been done on Digital Spy. I am still going to lurk on both site's but think certain people are looking down on the paupers that are not going to quit Digital Spy i.e Pakokelso93 and bwfcol

I'm not going to lie, i'll still be posting on DS as I post on a few others threads pretty regularly to just ignore it, so if I have a point to make on a commentary i'll probably post on DS as i'm on that site. The layout of this thread is a poor 2nd to DS aswell.

As someone said earlier it's annoying because you are constantly having to check things on 2 threads but the DS won't die. As has been stated on many occasion on DS there is an ignore button. It's as if some of the forum mafia feel threatened by all these newcomers. Many of the first breakaway members were not long on DS.

Fantastic testament to the competition though as all these people are asking for it. Another point aswell, more commentators were finding DS, I suppose you could argue some of the bitching has potentially put comms off DS but it's easier to find on the net than this.

PS: How do you use emoticons on this ?

Emoticons aren't in use right now but they'll be activated next week.

The problem with that is vbulletin alone costs $195 per year. I don't have the stats to hand but this site has already been gaining thousands of hits per day, that's a lot of google ads needed sadly because I know from experience on a non-football site I used to do how poorly they pay out.

vBulletin is $195 as a one-off. I should know - I run a copy on another website!

It's $80 a year if you want phone and email support.

Well if people really wanted vbulletin that much then perhaps someone could organise that?

Sorry, I'm not going to stop posting on DS. I like that forum and didn't see much of a need to leave. I will look at both and post on both. Many will still do that, and if the powers that be who orchistrated the move don't like that then sorry guys you shouldn't have attempted to move because it was inevitable a split would happen/

I've merged the new forum thread into the Site News thread.

A couple of updates, we've changed the colour (do people prefer this one?) and also emoticons are now in place. There's a new temporary banner, is anyone any good at designing these things and want to do one for the site?

Have to admit I prefer the change of colour, much easier on my eyes than the red

Is there anyway of telling mods on DS to close the thread and not make a new 'part' to it?
.

bwfcol - 14/8/2010 10:10

Our hopes include that people on here stop posting on the DS thread and it dies :)

The Exiled Wanderer - 14/8/2010 10:45

I don't think it's possible to completely kill off the DS thread, people on there will still comment on it, but if we're all on here DS will be like the Championship Manager situation when Sega picked up the licences or whatever, it'll carry on but won't be as good :D

Homesdale35 - 14/8/2010 21:10

The only way for this to work is for anyone on here not tp post on DS.

Problem is though, is that at the moment you are still having to check both still in case you miss anything.

At the moment tonights MOTD commentators have been posted on DS, but not on here. Also this site doesn't seem as busy as DS used to be.

I'm probably going to be banned for saying this, but I dont care because it needs to be said - the sheer arrogance in the above posts is absolutely breathtaking.

Getting a thread closed? Hoping a thread dies? Who the hell do you think you all are for dictating where and when people can post?

To be frankly honest it puts me off using this place. I asked a simple question in the Broadcasting thread last week, it was ignored. I requoted it a couple of days after, and I get short shrift from someone who tells me to be patient Well I'm sorry if I don't know everything, it was a simple question and acknolegement of the initial question would have been nice.

I would say good luck - but I dont think I'll bother.

You won't get banned for expressing an opinion on here (unless its abusive).

You seem to have been irritated by someone not replying to your post, people are busy and it may take a few days before people who have the information (it's probably just 1 or 2 members) to post it. All I was trying to say was that, waiting 24 hours for a response to a question probably isn't long enough. The people who may or may not have the requested information probably didn't acknowledge your post due to their limited time or to find the info for you before responding.

As for your quoted posts, I feel it's down to some issues on DS and a lot of hard work going into this forum so people wanting it to be successful.

Just to say that there isn't anybody in charge of answering questions.

Very often on DS (on any thread) somebody may ask a question. If nobody knows the answer, nobody responds. Nobody is assigned the job of saying: "Question noted and being worked on".

I can't see any reason for it to be any different on here.

So it may well be that a question will not receive a response if nobody has the answer.

I, like you, was only expressing an opinion. I prefer this site to DS, if people hold the opposite opinion, I have no problem with that. There are many other forum discussions around the web about TV football coverage, all have a right to be there. You misinterpreted my comment
