I see ITV4 are going to show Ashes Highlights nightly... Very recent announcement

Mark Nicholas to host the 'ITV SPORT PRODUCED' coverage (he is Part of Channel 9's coverage) - I would imagine they will take the Channel 9 Commentary... of Nicholas, Boycott etc

The Exiled Wanderer - 31/10/2010 02:00

ESPN's latest Fan Forum survey confirms that they want to start showing tennis

They listed events and asked whether we would be likely to watch/subscribe for them - the events they listed were pretty minor, except for possibly ATP 1000 and Davis Cup. They also listed ATP 500, 250, and World Team Championships

Sky has signed a new 3 year deal (2011-2013) for the ATP Masters 1000 series + ATP World Tour finals + five ATP Masters 500 events.

Due to the floods in Queensland channel 9 running rolling news coverage on there main channel, the womens Twenty20 game is now currently running on GEM, Channel 7 is doing similar things with the tennis having constant news coverage on the flood on their main channel and switching the Tennis to 7TWO their secondary digital channel.

Not 100% sure about tonights mens twenty20 game if it will run on the main channel or GEM, probably depends on how bad things get, they had already announced that the cricket will not be airing on QTQ-9 Brisbane with Win Television Queensland more likely to follow suit

Sky schedules for 2011 US Masters announced today.

Interestingly they are going on air before live US television coverage starts on ESPN / CBS:

- One hour earlier on Thurs, Fri and Sat
- 30 mins earlier on Sun

So Sky coverage is (UK time):

Thurs / Fri - 7pm to 12.30am
Sat - 7.30pm to 12.30am
Sun - 6.30pm to 12.30am

(Note that ESPN coverage on Thurs / Fri is itself starting one hour earlier than in previous years - ie at 8pm UK time)

As discussed on these forums over the years there is one extra hour of live internet coverage (*) available in the US that has never ever been available in the UK. So I wonder if Sky are going to have access to that in the hour they are on air before the ESPN / CBS coverage starts.

BBC still of course has coverage on Sat and Sun and presumablty they will follow their previous practice of going on air when CBS coverage starts - ie 8.30pm on Sat and 7pm on Sun.

The other aspect to this is that by starting their coverage ealier, Sky will be hoping Sky viewers don't turn over to the BBC when BBC coverage starts.

Will also be interesting to see how Sky deal with their ads. There are of course far fewer ads in the US during the Masters than on "normal" US TV and presumably Sky will also similarly show far fewer ads than normal.

(*) BBC has for several years shown the all day internet coverage of Amen corner. The internet coverage only available in the US referred to above is full 18 hole "as TV" coverage.

Sky schedules:

The Times is reporting that Carl Froch's Super Six semi-final vs Glen Johnson on 4th June will be on Sky.

(All his recent fights have been on Primetime).

Can any one confirm there appears to be no Game of The Day and Football First on 14 May. This is also the day of the FA Cup Final.

There is the TV game at 12.45 (Blackburn-Man U) and three other games, also kick-offs at 12.45. Therefore was wondering if this was the reason Sky can not show this on their regular 8.25 Saturday slot?

Just for reference they appear to be showing La Liga on SS1, with live golf, speedway and tennis on the other channels at 8.25. This means we may not see full coverage of the three EPL games until highlights on MOTD.

Details of the 2012-16 deal,

Total of the deal reached a record $1.253 billion. Fox Sports will remain the pay tv rights holder increasing to show all 9 games live commercial free siren to siren nation wide. Channel 7 won the FTA rights to 4 games, only confirming the Saturday afternoon game will be delayed into Victoria they have hinted they might on sell some games to channel 10, secondary digital channels to be use to broadcast games live into Queensland and NSW. Telstra has won Mobile and IPTV rights and will stream all games live

I only now hope that the NRL will do a similar deal so they will show all games live nation wide

NBC announced today they've lost the rights to Wimbledon as of today's final. ESPN will carry all the matches live and the final will be live on ESPN2 with highlights on ABC on the weekends. Currently, NBC shows the final but of course they stupidly delay it to half the country and ESPN2 air their delayed coverage in the evening.

Big big loss for NBC which leaves the likes of Ted Robinson and John McEnroe out of a job (he is not employed by ESPN). Perhaps McEnroe can continue his BBC work, though.

He probably will. Good news as well, as it means he may get to do the men's final. (Henman is poor if you ask me)

McEnroe has done work for CBS, no? He'd at least get to do the US Open then

John McEnroe does the US Open for both ESPN and CBS. He still has full-time work at the US Open and Wimbledon and part-time work at Roland Garros, so I don't think he will be changing networks unless ESPN offers him big money. Him and his brother call matches together at the US Open and I kind of like their commentary (I'd liken it to BBC's F1 coverage with 2 analysts and no "main" commentator).

Charles Sales:

Channel 4 have joined the growing queue of broadcasters interested in taking Formula One rights off the BBC.

The cuts-ravaged Beeb have two more seasons to run on their five-year deal. But the corporation’s financial situation makes it highly unlikely they will renew such an expensive agreement and they may even opt out early.

Favourites to take over are ITV, but Sky, who were dismissed by Bernie Ecclestone after talks in 1998, are also in the hunt and have increased their coverage of the sport this year.

However, C4’s unexpected emergence gives Ecclestone an authentic alternative to his preferred terrestrial TV partner. The station has new leadership and potentially £40million a year to invest, saved by ditching Big Brother. This is the sort of money the BBC are paying for F1.

Channel 4 have also shown a liking for high-profile sport with their purchase of the world athletics championships and the Paralympics.

The BBC say there’s no history of them ending contracts early and there is a desire to keep F1
